Portesham Village Hall Friendship CafĂ© - Every Tuesday  10am - 12 noon

In the light of the strengthening of government advice regarding social distancing and the consequent cancellation of most bookings, the Management Committee has decided to close the Village Hall until further notice.  We do so with considerable regret, as the hall provides such great benefits to the community.   We will be sure to be keep you informed once we are able to open the Hall again.  In the meantime, please direct queries to me at

Portesham Village Hall is available for hire
This is a spacious, modern hall, situated on the edge of our historic and picturesque village in the heart of the Dorset countryside. It has 3 rooms for hire, a small garden and a car park.
Our modern facilities include fast BT Infinity Broadband, WiFi connection, HD Projector installation with 4m Electric Screen and linked Sound System with Hearing Induction Loop.

Hiring is colour coded as   Main Hall    or   Committee Room  or Hardy Room

Main Hall
The spacious Hall holds a maximum capacity of 120 seated theatre style and has a large fitted stage with lighting.
The hall has good facilities and is suitable for conferences, celebrations and concerts.  

A 4m electrically operated screen and  HD Optoma EH501 digital projector with surround sound speakers are available.

Size:  9.2m x 16.5 m with additional stage area 5.5m x 3.6m. 

Committee Room (Ron Doble Room)
This smaller, comfortable room,  is accessed directly from the foyer, and is suitable for smaller functions and meetings.

There is a hatchway straight to the kitchen for serving teas and coffees.

Size:  4.4m x 5.4m

Hardy Room

A committee room with permanent table and chairs for up to 12 people.  

A portable projector and screen are available with this room. 


Double doors open from the Main Hall onto a pleasant garden, with patio and lawn and with direct access to the car park. 

Measures 9 m x 20m

The modern kitchen is adjacent to the rear of the Hall which is served through a large serving hatch.
It is well fitted with a large expanse of worktop, a 90cm electric range cooker with ceramic hob, small dish washer, water heater for drinks, microwave oven, fridge and a full set of crockery, glassware and cutlery.

You are required to supply your own Tea Towels and to remove all bottles, waste food and general rubbish from the site at the end of hiring.

130 upholstered stacking chairs, 50 plastic chairs. Tables: 10 rectangular aluminium tables, seating 6-8 people each; 10 rectangular melamine tables, seating 6-8 people each; 10 melamine square tables, seating 4 people each.

Crockery and cutlery
Crockery cutlery and glasses are available.

Toilet facilities 
There are spacious Ladies and Gents toilets and a Disabled Toilet with baby changing facility.

Car Park
The car park can accommodate around 20 cars.
