Portesham Volunteer Group
We are a group of residents who quietly undertake regular projects in the village with an aim to enhance the environment and give help where needed.
We operate using funds raised at our annual café, held each year in the village hall, always on the Saturday within the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Due to Covid_19 restrictions at the village hall, thanks to Jo & Lee, our August Bank Holiday Café was held in The Kings Arms garden from 09.00 to 11.00 on Saturday 29th August, where we cooked delicious breakfast baps raising over £600.00!
This year "The Great Portesham Breakfast" will be back in the village hall on Saturday 28th August where we hope to have a mix of stalls and a grand raffle.
We are pleased to offer our group's services to Portesham Surgery, in the same manner as the NHS Volunteer Responders (co-ordinated by the Royal Volunteer Service). Many of us have the pleasure of being able to help fellow villagers, isolated due to COVID-19, by delivering their prescriptions and shopping to their door.
We enjoy our time as volunteers throughout the year, whether it be for community litter picking or working on some specific project.
Now duly filled in after our promise to tend this area for the whole of the World War One 100th anniversary period
2014 - 2018.
Please don't be shy - we are a friendly bunch and we welcome all villagers with open arms!
Meanwhile please stay safe and keep well.
If you need help with a prescription to be picked up from the surgery and/or interested in joining us we would love to hear from you, please call either:
