Portesham Walking Group

We are a successful walking group of some 40 members, mainly from Portesham but also from other parts of Chesil Bank.
We organise three walks per month throughout the year. Typically, there will be a short walk of 4 - 6 miles on the first Tuesday of the month, followed by a long walk of between 8 - 10 miles on the third Tuesday. For the less active we have a 2 - 3 mile walk we call the "4Ws" which always involves a café stop and these walks take place on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

We alternate between local walks starting from the Village Green in Portesham and those involving travel to other parts of Dorset. For these we tend to share cars to the starting point. Normally, for the long and short walks, we either take a picnic or have a pub lunch.

The long walks usually attract 8 - 10 walkers with many more doing the short walks.

The group has been in existence for around 15 years and its membership has increased steadily over that time, mostly by word of mouth. However, we are aware that there are now a lot of people new to the CB area who may not know about our group and who might want to join us and enjoy the wonderful scenery through which we walk.
We are a friendly and inclusive group who would give new members a warm welcome.
